Sykes Enterprises Work From Home self. What threw me off was the job interview process. The interview took about 2 hours through Google Hangout. I didn't think that a scam would take that long for a fake interview process but now that I think about it, a real job would never take that much time because they have real shit to do.

After the long interview about my previous jobs as a virtual assistant, they said they would get back to me shortly about the status. I got the job and they said that they had an edeposit for me to get work equipment with. I made the edeposit and started to wonder what sense it made to do things this way.

Why wouldn't they just make the purchase? I contacted UpWork and they asked me to send the link to the job posting and the Hangout conversation.

They confirmed it was a scam. I talked to my bank.

The edeposit appeared to go through but they said it could take up to a month to confirm the validity of the check because it also has to go through the federal reserve. If the check turned out to be bad, I would still be responsible for any funds used. Although I'm glad that the scammers didn't get my money, the process of apply, the interview, setting up the edeposit, plus the time I stopped looking for real work is still time and I am annoyed by the loss. Not to mention, I feel sort of dumb. I believe the group used Sykes because if you google them, you will see that they do have agents who work from home and you will find that they aren't happy workers potentially explaining the high salary the scammers offer.

But if you keep digging, you can also find that they aren't paid nearly the rate the scam claims.

Additionally, Sykes Enterprises seems to be impossible to get in contact with. Perfect storm for the con artists. LOL, that was an interesting way to rationalize the high pay they were offering, btw. I'm on Upwork as well and come across scammers like these quite often.

I'm glad you figured it out in the end and they didn't get your money but it does suck to lose hours of productivity on their bullcrap.

It really sucks when you get a new message of a possible new job and it turns out to be some copy and paste scammer. I use to apply pretty often to jobs for elance before they merged with Upwork.

Elance, I hardly got any response at all. Upwork, I've been getting lots of responses but they are all scams. Need to find a new site I suppose. Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy.

Last week, I found a job that seemed too good to be true and obviously it was. I'm posting this in hopes it will help others avoid the scam of time and money.
