Knox is handy for us where we live and we can almost always find what we're looking for. With a KMart and Target you're already on a roll, add to that Harris Scarfe and you're laughing. The Ozone is great for a meal. Let's face it, there's not much else going on in the Knox area.

I like that they have an enormous green grocers in the middle of the centre which has everything you could want.

It's a little bit squishy but it's good value and much better than at the supermarket. Speaking of which, I've never been quite sure why there needs to be two Coles stores in the one centre It's a bit strange. There's no Woolworths or other chains of supermarket - maybe that's why, so they don't sneak in. There are specialty grocers though; butcher, deli, health stores - pretty pricey though.

Depending on your disposition, shopping malls can either be super-convenient places for tackling multiple stores all at once, or an insipid hell where souls go to die on the alter of consumerism. I'll confess - I'm in the latter camp. Browsing in one of these places is the kind of self-inflicted torture that profoundly baffles me.

I mean, I can understand shopping malls conceptually, but the reality is so utterly void of joy, it's reasonable to feel almost existentially perplexed at the sheer numbers who flock to spend their time here. The kind you can't spend online. I was gifted Westfield vouchers, so took myself off to Knox on the way to Mt Dandenong, which would ultimately serve as place of healing and post-mall restoration. On entry, you're immediately hit by the noise, the artificial lighting, the bland uniformity of the never-ending stream of outlets, enticing you in with dubious offers and suspiciously low prices.

Or the posh ones where suits cost more than you've got in your savings account. Either way, the result is the same - you shuffle around with the other cattle, herded from one area to the next, signs to the exits appearing like mirages on the horizon, pointing to a forgotten land where sunlight and fresh-air are things of legend.

I could go on, but I'll spare you. This is a review of Knox, not a lambasting of a concept. So within the context of Knox being one of these kind of places, it's pretty good, I suppose. Clean, light, plenty to choose from. Go if you must, but remember how you got in - there lies the easiest way out.

Knox shopping center is a great little center in my opinion. It's nothing in the likes and glam of Chadstone or Doncaster, but for a suburban shopping center it's not too bad.

It offers most popular brands including; Country Road, Witchery, The Body Shop, Rebel Sport, Roger David, Taro Cash, General Pants Co and much much more. Aside from fashion, there is also a Myer department store, Target, Kmart, electrical stores and home ware stores.

There are also a few large stores just outside of the shopping center Kathmandu, JB HiFi, Goodguys and more. Knox shopping center also have a fresh veg and fruit market right in the middle of the center, this is extremely convenient as most of the time I am just passing by, and it allows me to just pick up something small without having to 'grocery' shopping. The food court here is also very large, with ample seating and variety of foods. If food courts aren't your thing, Knox City also offer a plethora of cafes and restaurants just outside the center.

Knox City Shopping Centre is an easily navigated whopper of a shopping centre. It has both indoor and outdoor areas with its newest section being the outdoor area called Knox-Ozone. The large centre features over retailers with major chain stores Myer, Target, Kmart, Coles, Harvey Norman, Toys R Us and Harris Scarfe. The centre itself is pretty old in parts as it was first built in Pretty much all of the shops have been refurbished multiple times now and so it is only through looking at the tiled floors and the banisters that the age can be noticed.

In Knox-Ozone which was designed to be an entertainment, leisure and dining complex there is indeed a lot of places to keep you entertained. I spend at least one night a week down there because I love the relaxed atmosphere and how everything is close-by and easy to get to. Knox Cinemas are right next door to the Irish Pub, within walking distance of a wide array of restaurants and if you get bored of those there is even a Timezone Centre just thirty metres or so away.

Outside Knox Ozone there is also an array of businesses that a lot of people who only frequent the indoor Shopping Centre don't seem to know about. You will find technology retailers Clive Peters, Dick Smith and JB Hi Fi all hugging the outside of Ozone. Also outdoors is Rivers, Cash Converters, The Big Picture People, Fitness First, Fantastic Furniture and even KFC and Hungry Jacks stores.

The centre has everything covered and on Friday and Saturday nights always has Taxi's cruising past the steps near Village Cinemas. Up near Target there is a large bus bay and buses run from the early hours of the morning to quite late at night.

There are large car parks surrounding the centre and Ozone with a four-storey multi level section near the Cinemas and a caged parking area for staff only. Like most shopping centres their trading hours are: Monday to Wednesday 9am Thursday and Friday 9am-9pm.

Saturday 9am - 5pm. There is late night midnight trading around Christmas time as well as special trading hours around Knox Ozone where different stores close at different times.

Knox City has grown over the years to the size of a small city in itself, and now can be used as an exercise regime if you plan to walk from one end to the other.

With Myer taking up one whole end, and other large chains such as Harvey Norman, Dick Smith, JB Hi-Fi and more here, Knox City has all you need for your home, all you need for clothing, and all you need for entertainment now that the new O-Zone addition is complete.

With a range of restaurants, a huge Village Cinemas and a bowling alley outside, it's become the place to go for last minute Christmas Shopping for myself, and for many others, simply a place to go and spend the entire day. I can't stand this place, but at the same time I really can't avoid it. If anything can be said in favour of this place, it would simply be that it isn't Chadstone. You'll find all of the major brands here.

Most of the minor ones. Mobile phone shops are more common here than bogans, and there are a lot of bogans here. That's one thing that I can say in favour of Chadstone, it's not like walking onto the set of Kath and Kim. There's plenty of parking. You probably won't be driving around the car park for half an hour unless you must have that park next to the entrance.

The Ozone part is full of restaurants that for the most part would be better off selling mobile phones than food. The cinemas aren't too bad though. It is one of the bigger centers in Melbourne, and you will find all your major shops such as Target, Kmart, Myer.

When you add Ozone into the mix it's all good. You have a place to eat after your done shopping. The only bad thing about Knox is it gets really busy, and can be hard to find a park. Knox City is one of my favourite shopping centres in Melbourne, and the one closest to where I grew up - which means I know it really well!

You can get everything here - the main centre has department stores like Myer, KMart and Target, supermarkets like Coles and Safeways, and independent stores and chains for everything from clothes to DIY to jewellery, shoes, camping stuff, books, crafts, sportsyou name it, you can find it here. There is also the main food court as well as the marketplace, with fresh fish, butcher, poultry, deli, bakery, and small food venues dotted throughout the centre.

Services include the local library, banks, and other information places - outside are bigger buildings for the RACV, furniture warehouses, and the Knox Ozone. There is parking all around the centre, as well as a multi-plex, and the newer spaces at the very very back that they open especially during Christmas hours.
